What's the difference between a fishing jersey and a fishing shirt?

A fishing jersey is a pullover style (no front buttons) with an athletic, performance-oriented fit. It's closer to a technical athletic top than a traditional button-up fishing shirt. DERY's hooded mask jersey takes this further with the built-in visor, integrated face mask, thumb holes, and flatlock stitching — features you won't find on a standard fishing shirt. If you're a tournament angler, guide, or serious offshore fisherman, a jersey is the tool for the job.

Does the built-in visor actually stay in place in the wind?

Yes. The visor is a stiffened insert sewn into the leading edge of the hood — it's not a removable piece and it doesn't rely on tension to stay in position. At normal boat speeds (up to ~25 knots), the visor stays put. At higher speeds, the hood's drawcord can be tightened to lock everything down. Unlike a separate cap, the visor can't blow off because it's physically attached to the garment.

Can I wear sunglasses with the face mask pulled up?

Yes. The face mask sits below the eyes — it covers from the bridge of the nose downward. Sunglasses sit above the mask edge without interference. The visor brim also extends outward enough that most sunglass frames fit underneath without contact.

Is the face mask removable?

No — it's sewn into the hood as a permanent extension. This is intentional: removable masks get lost, left in the truck, or forgotten at home. The integrated design means you always have it. When you don't need it, the mask tucks under the chin and disappears against the collar.

How does the zipper pocket hold up in saltwater?

The zipper is a corrosion-resistant YKK coil zipper with a rubberized pull tab. It's designed to withstand saltwater exposure without seizing. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use and it'll last the life of the jersey. The pocket itself is mesh-lined so it drains instantly — it won't hold a puddle of seawater against your phone.

What does 4-needle 6-thread flatlock stitching mean — and why should I care?

It's a specialized seam construction commonly used in high-end athletic wear. Four needles create six threads of interlocking stitching that lies completely flat against the skin — no raised ridge that chafes when wet or during repetitive motion. It's also stronger than standard lockstitch: less likely to unravel if a thread breaks, which matters when you're offshore and can't exactly change shirts.

Is this jersey available in women's sizing?

Yes. The women's version has a contoured athletic fit through the torso and hips, with slightly shorter sleeve length and a proportionally sized hood. Available XS–3XL in women's. Custom women's sizing available at MOQ 100 pcs.

Can the visor be removed or is it permanent?

The visor is a permanent structural element — it's not designed to be removed. However, for custom OEM orders, we can produce the jersey without the visor (hood-only version) or with a softer, foldable visor alternative. MOQ for visor modifications is 200 pcs.

Do you offer this jersey in long sleeve and short sleeve?

This listing is for the long sleeve version. Short sleeve hooded mask jerseys are available on request — MOQ 100 pcs. Many tournament anglers prefer long sleeves for UPF coverage and the thumb hole integration; short sleeve is popular for freshwater summer leagues and kayak fishing.
